Each Arbor Day, the City celebrates its designation as a Tree City USA with a tree planting ceremony and program at a local elementary school.
The environment-friendly event which also features recognition of the Pantera Elementary School Poster Contest winner.
Arbor Day, the nation's oldest environmental holiday, which celebrates trees and their benefits, was founded in 1872 and has since been celebrated across the United States, including 11 communities across Nevada.
The Tree City USA designation is an honor conferred upon municipalities that meet strict requirements for per-capita spending, tree ordinances and citizen advisory committee meetings.
